Legendary screenwriter Joe Eszterhas is making a comeback.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Basic Instinct and Jagged Edge writer has penned a steamy thriller called Lust. The scripts follows a "30-year old beauty who is married and in love with an older Miami-based fashion magazine publisher, only to be seduced by a younger charming playboy on a business trip in Los Angeles. The playboy has a Russian assistant who is in love with him, and in this twisted jealous love triangle, secretly videotapes him and his new lover having sex to show it to her husband." It's described as a cross between Basic Instinct and Fatal Attraction.
No director has yet boarded the project, but the budget is set at $30 million and will be funded independently then sold at Cannes. Eszterhas wrote a cracking tell-all book on his career called American Rhapsody. Well worth checking out if you're into the Hollywood malarkey.
