Colin Farrell isn't the only Irish star of 'The Batman', it turns out.
The full cast list dropped alongside the trailer last weekend with Barry Keoghan included in the billing.
Details have now emerged about what role he will play.
Keoghan, known for his roles in 'Dunkirk', 'The Killing of a Sacred Deer' and 'Love/Hate', will play Stanley Merkel in the superhero epic.
In the original DC Comics, Merkel is Commissioner James Gordon's first partner.
Barry Keoghan is thus one of a handful of actors to land both a Warner Bros./DC gig as well as a Marvel movie.
The young actor will also star in 'The Eternals' opposite the likes of Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and Kumail Nanjiani.
The release of the movie was delayed. It is now scheduled for release on February 12, 2021, and will be part of Phase Four of the MCU.
Shooting on 'The Batman' was also postponed. However it is expected to resume in early September.
The feature sees Robert Pattinson play Bruce Wayne, aka Batman; Zoe Kravitz play Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman; Paul Dano plays the Riddler; Jeffrey Wright plays Commissioner Gordon; and Colin Farrell is Oswald "Oz" Cobblepot, better known as Penguin.
'The Batman' is set to hit cinemas on October 1, 2021.
