I'm probably way happier about this than I should be. But there is going to be a sequel to the brilliantly dark comedy Bad Santa and it’s going to be directed by the guy behind Hot Tub Time Machine.

I thought Hot Tub Time Machine was hilarious; a comedy that knew exactly what it was and didn’t make any bones about it. Bad Santa is a true cult comedy and all kinds of messed up so this makes perfect sense. Steve Pink, who also co-wrote Grosse Point Blank (and deserves endless credit for that regardless), is besties with John Cusack who is also pals with Bad Santa star, Billy Bob Thornton, so the conversation may have started a while ago.

The film is scheduled for release in 2013 - right around Christmas time.
