Expectations are high for the next Warner Bros/DC movies Wonder Woman and Justice League. Another in pre-production now is Aquaman.
Jason Momoa plays the title character (who was first seen in a cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and stars in the upcoming Justice League), and Patrick Wilson has been cast as the fish whisperer’s supervillain half-brother ORM, also known as Ocean Master.
Amber Heard is playing Mera, Queen of Atlantis, and Willem Dafoe (also no stranger to superhero movies what with previously playing the Green Goblin in the Tobey Maguire-starring Spiderman) plays Vulko.
Wilson is best-known for his roles in the Insidious and The Conjuring horror films. He also played Dan Dreiberg aka Nite Owl in 2009’s Watchmen, so this will be his newest venture into the superhero franchise.
Interestingly, he also voiced POTUS in Batman v Superman, which makes one wonder if the new role is perhaps linked to this (although we'd guess it probably isn't).
Akin to the Loki-Thor sibling dynamic, Aquaman’s human half-brother is a rival for the throne of Atlantis and wreaks havoc on the high seas and beneath them when he doesn’t get his way.
