Uber producer (well, the less said about the actually OK Lone Ranger the better) Jerry Bruckheimer was featured at Wonder Con recently and spoke to movie site Collider about a few of his projects but most interestingly Bad Boys 3.
He told them, "It's so funny because we'll get Sony real excited to make the movie, and then Will [Smith] is off doing two movies. And then, Will will come back and be real excited about it, and Sony will say, 'Well, maybe it's not the time for this.' And then, Ride Along came out and was a big hit, and now they're all excited to make the movie, but Will is off doing something else. It's just trying to get everybody together to make it. But, we're working on the script. We have a lot of faith and hope that we'll do it."
The first Bad Boys was Michael Bay’s debut feature film and is generally a blast. It was made extremely cheaply for the type of production it was, and did strong box office. The second film, although bloated with the now trademark Bay excesses, had moments of high octane, violent and expensive sequences you rarely see in modern action cinema.
Also, both Martin Lawrence and Will Smith bounce off each other really well.
We’d love to see another one, but maybe with a different director. Ideal world? Shane Black or Joe Carnahan. Just throwing those names out there.
