After Amy Schumer exited the live-action Barbie film (yes, really) in March of this year, it looked like that was it for the film.

However, THR now reports that the project is not only back up and running, it's got Anne Hathaway set to take over from Schumer and all. Not only that, Australian comedy director Alethea Jones has been lined up to helm the film with a release date slated for June 29th, 2018.

Schumer's take on the story was that of Barbie being kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect, thus taking her on a journey through the real world where - you guessed it - nobody's perfect either. It's not yet known if Schumer's version of the script will be the one that makes it to the screen or if another draft will be used, but the whole thing has a definite whiff of Disney's Enchanted off it.

So, Hathaway's out and Schumer's in? Sure, why not. Hathaway can do comedy very well and she's not afraid to take the piss out of herself either, so yeah, this could work.
