Amanda Seyfried is getting sick of people calling her film 'crazy'. Seyfried plays Linda Lovelace in new biopic 'Lovelace', which tells the story of Linda's relationship with her manager and husband Chuck Traynor and her appearance in 1970's movie 'Deep Throat'.
Seyfried has been defending the movie saying,' This is not a movie about a porn star - it's about a deeply twisted relationship.I fully believe Linda's viewpoint and that's of a woman who was physically abused. A lot of people don't believe the story she had to tell. It's strange. I keep getting asked, 'What was it like to play this crazy porn star?'. But she's not that woman to me at all. She was in this crazy, unhealthy, twisted relationship and, quite honestly, it's the darkest place I've ever gone to with a role,' she added.
Linda became famous for her role in 'Deep Throat' and while it did open up a lot of people and their sexuality, beneath this lays a very sad and disturbing story. Only years after making 'Deep Throat' did she speak out about being forced to star in the movie and the abuse she suffered from her husband. Linda famously once said, 'Every time you watch Deep Throat, you're watching me getting raped'. Seyfried admitted she was deeply affected by Lovelace's story while doing research for the role. 'It was the violence I found very hard to deal with. You're talking about a woman who was forced to even ask to go to the bathroom. I found it very hard to watch Deep Throat and we only just skimmed the surface of it.'
Lovelace is released this Friday 23rd August. Read our review of it here.
