Al Pacino's played many roles - lots of gangsters and good guys who are much the same character with varying levels of rage/conviction/you get my drift - but has he played a rock star? I think not. The Heat actor will now turn his hand to something completely different with John Lennon inspired movie, Imagine. What's more it's a comedy.

Pacino will star alongside Jeremy Renner and Julianne Moore for Dan Fogleman's directorial debut. As per Deadline, Pacino will appear as an over-the-hill rock star who finds out only after reading an unopened letter from John Lennon, that he has a son, played by Renner. Moore stars as the manager of a hotel where Pacino's jaded star moves to with the hopes of reviving his career. The plot sounds a bit far fetched but here's hoping it's not a pile of pants.

Speaking about the forthcoming project Fogleman who penned the script for Crazy Stupid Love (also starring Julianne Moore) said: "Every writer has 'that one project'... the one they feel so strongly about that they can't bear to turn it over to anyone else. For me, that project is Imagine. It was a career highlight simply to get a script of mine into Al Pacino's hands. To have him read it, and then want to star in it... it's five steps past career highlight. And now, to have Julianne Moore and Jeremy join the fray... it's beyond my wildest dreams. I've been hiding in my house for the past few weeks... out of fear that someone would pinch me. We are going to make a very special film here."
