It’s been a cracking twelve months or so for Steve Coogan; a hugely successful big screen version of his signature character in Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, as well as a Oscar nomination and even stronger box-office for the warmly received Philomena.
Now, according to the folks at Empire Magazine,Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, which is being released in the US today, is getting a sequel AND a Sky TV special.
Irishman Declan Lowney directed the first film, which had the acerbic co-writing talents of Veep and In the Loop creator Armando Iannucci. It’s not clear who exactly is coming back from a creative point of view, but it’s now in the scripting stages.
Here’s hoping it goes down well in America so the sequel can command a bigger budget and Partridge can go all epic on our arses.
