Maybe this is evident to us, seeing as how we live it every day in this line of work, but the Oscars are 90% bullshit.
For one, the makeup of voters is ridiculously skewed, you have massive campaigns by studios to try and influence people's opinions, and it's all such a foregone conclusion by the end of it all that you can tell what way it's going to go.
That said, we will have full Oscars coverage tomorrow morning from 5.30AM as well as red carpet photos, so stick around for that.
But, the main reason why we're making that broad statement is because Adam Sandler's performance in 'Uncut Gems' was totally overlooked by the Oscars, as was the movie itself. Why? Well, in Adam Sandler's speech at the Independent Spirit Awards, he gave the Oscars and the Hollywood establishment both barrels.
In an expletive-laden speech that referenced 'Funny People', getting Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos high, his Oscars snub, Sandler rounded out the speech with a reference to how he was voted Best Personality in his high school and missed out on Most Handsome.
"So let all of those feather-haired douchebag motherfuckers get their Oscars tomorrow night. Their handsome good looks will fade in time, while our independent personalities will shine on forever," Sandler said.
What a speech. The Oscars could have had this if they had the slightest amount of chutzpah.
