Is there such a thing as too much of a good thing?
This has plagued philosophers and fans of comic-book movies for many years now, but it's hard to get a definitive answer. On the one hand, if the ability is there to maintain a level of quality, sure. On the other hand, how can you prolong something? How long can you push out an idea like John Wick before it gets silly or unwatchable?
According to a report by Collider, a third John WIck film is in the works. In an interview, director Chad Stohleski confirmed that Lionsgate is interested and wants another dose of Keanu Reeves realness. "The studio has asked us to put our heads together and see if we can come up with something... We've got some ideas," said Stohelski.
Although you might scoff, the only one who can save this from turning sh*t is Keanu Reeves. Why's that, you might ask? Well, John Wick basically gave him back his action credentials and he's not going to mess that up. Even when we interviewed him back on the original one, Reeves was skittish about the idea of a sequel.
Therefore, it stands to reason that a third one could only happen if there was a strong enough idea there. Looking at Taken 2 and 3 as an example, using the same plot and framing device isn't going to work and it stands to reason that Lionsgate know this as well.
