The reboot of 'Power Rangers' - which saw Elizabeth Banks of all people playing Rita Repulsa and Bryan Cranston playing Zordon - is due for a sequel.

Although the movie didn't exactly blow audiences or critics away when it landed in cinemas last year, there's obviously enough support for a sequel to happen and clearly Hasbro - the company which now owns the rights - are keen to see it turned into a reality. Speaking to analysts and eventually picked up by licensing.org, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner said that the toy conglomerate would "work with a film studio to develop a new Power Rangers movie as a follow-up to the 2017 release."

As it stands, there's been no word from Lionsgate who handled the reboot and there's been no confirmation from the cast either that it'll return. The movie was based on the popular children's live-action series which saw a group of teenagers mysteriously transformed into high-flying karate-using ninjas who flew around in giant mechas that could link up to one another to create... even bigger mechas.

The 2017 reboot significantly underperformed at the box office, amassing only $154 million worldwide against a production budget of $100 million. Director Dean Israelite, however, blamed the PG-13 rating that was enforced on the movie for the poor response. "I think parents were unsure if they could bring their kids to the movie, which surprised me, because the movie is a tame PG-13.”

No release date has been set for the 'Power Rangers' sequel.
