Scream writer Kevin Williamson has reportedly pitched the idea of a new trilogy of films to the slasher trilogy's previous stars, Courtney Cox and David Arquette, with both actors apparently enthusiastic about a return to their biggest cinematic roles. The original is one of the best thrillers of all time, and was an exercise in perfect pacing by legendary director Wes Craven - who then went on to make two hugely successful sequels. Craven is currently at work on his latest serial killer film 25/8, but is reportedly interested in returning to the series if the script is up the scratch. I love those movies; and while the third one is easily the weakest, it is still leagues above half the other crap out there masquerading as horror/slasher films. Not sure what direction they'll go in, but Williamson has proved himself to be a very smart writer before. If Craven is on board, then so am I.
