Apparently, Warner Bros. want to get the old band back together.
It’s early days, and we’ve heard this one before, but the idea of a new Lethal Weapon with the original creative team appears to be gaining some momentum.
According to Deadline, director Richard Donner, Mel Gibson and Danny Glover are all on board for the new project which would be the first movie in the franchise since 1998. It’s thought Channing Gibson, who wrote the fourth installment, would pen the new script.
The cast reunited earlier this year to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first Lethal Weapon in 1997. Here’s their interview with ABC News in which they were asked about making another movie -
"You play off the fact that they're not as limber as they used to be and I think that would be fun," said Gibson, talking about the possibility of playing older versions of Riggs and Murtaugh.
Interesting. We don’t want to get our hopes up just yet but watch this space.
