Although the last time a movie about 'Scooby-Doo' hit cinemas was nearly 15 years ago, it seems like people are still out here looking for more for snacks.
Per a report in THR, a CGI animated movie based on the character - titled 'Scooby' - is in the works. What's more, Will Forte of 'MacGruber' fame is set to voice Shaggy, whilst Gina Rodriguez will voice Velma. Meanwhile, Tracy Morgan from '30 Rock' is set to play a completely unrelated character; one from the Hanna-Barbera stable of cartoons - Captain Caveman.
If you remember, Captain Caveman's whole thing was that he flew around with his club, was covered in hair, and roared his name at the top of his lungs while he soared around. Getting Tracy Morgan to voice that guy either seems like deranged casting or genius casting. It'll all come out on the screen, anyway.
The live-action movies from the early '00s - 'Scooby-Doo' and 'Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed' have a bit of a cult following. For one thing, James Gunn - yes, that James Gunn from 'Guardians of the Galaxy' - wrote both movies. What's more, the CGI animated reboot will be written by Kelly Fremon Craig and Matt Lieberman, who wrote 'The Edge of Seventeen' and Netflix's 'The Christmas Chronicles', respectively.
No release date has been set for 'Scooby'.
