Producer of 300, Mark Canton and Graphic India are to team up to develop an action superhero feature based on the comic book series 'The Sadhu' created by Gotham Chopra (son of the life guru and best selling author Deepak Chopra) and Jeevan Kang.
Canton will produce the film alongside Sharad Devarajan and Gotham Chopra, whose Graphic India develops character based comics and graphic novels. Devarajan and Chopra are co-scribes of the screenplay of the action thriller titled Warrior: Revenge of The Sadhu.
The Sadhu comic follows a British soldier, James Jenson, who becomes victim of a brutal attack by a corrupt superior officer in the Indian colony of Bengal, that sees his entire family murdered during the British rule of the region in 1858. Jenson manages to escape to the remote forests where he, in turn, gains refuge with a group of Indian 'Sadhus', holy men who possess access to the mystic arts. The British soldier trains with the Sadhus, developing supernatural skills intended for use in self enlightenment. Jenson, however, is thrown into a moral quandary as he is faced with the dilemma of whether to use his newfound powers for good or for revenge against the killing of his family.
Commenting on the project Canton had this to say:
“In the same way Greek myths have captivated the imagination of audiences around the world, the screenplay by Gotham Chopra and Sharad Devarajan for Warrior taps into the mystical traditions and mythologies of India through an accessible action-packed adventure that I am confident will make a spectacular blockbuster film and will mark the birth of a new franchise,”
This has the makings of a cracking movie. Super-powers, moral dilemmas and revenge. There's bound to be an impossible romantic interest thrown in there as well. And, with Canton with his hand in the mix, you can be guaranteed epic action scenes and a rake of six packs about the film, too.
