22 Jump Street played past its already lofty expectations and grossed an estimated $60 million on its opening weekend in the US.

The Channing Tatum/Jonah Hill starrer topped the field ahead of another new entry How To Train Your Dragon 2, which grossed a solid $50 million off the back of strong reviews.

The extremely well reviewed Jump Street sequel played very well to both men and women, according to funding studio Sony, who say it was the pairing of their two stars that brought so many bums to seats.

While this writer wasn't particularly a fan, everyone else seemed to be.
