You'd never thinking a regenerating Canadian who talks to himself would wind up taking a penalty for Man Utd., but that's exactly what's happening here.
It might seem a bit odd - Ryan Reynolds taking a penalty with Wayne Rooney cheering him on - but that's because 20th Century Fox, the studio behind Deadpool, have signed a global partnership deal with Manchester United Football Club to promote its upcoming summer slate at their home games in Old Trafford.
The deal, which was confirmed and signed today, will see Deadpool and 20th Century Fox turn up as interview backdrops and will be promoted heavily in their stadium, not to mention taking part in specific trailers. Just like this one below.
The plan is to have Old Trafford and Manchester United players take part in various trailers and promotional videos for a few other films on Fox's slate, including Independence Day: Resurgence and X-Men: Apocalypse - all of which are due to hit the cinema over the coming months. Expect to see a lot more of this gas craic in the future, folks.
Of course, there's a certain irony here. Bond villain Media mogul Rupert Murdoch's Sky attempted to buy Manchester United in the late '90s, but was outbid by the Glazers. 20th Century Fox forms a part of Murdoch's empire, so this kind of closeness is interesting. Is there something in the offing, perhaps?
