Following up on his breakout feature 'Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar', Josh Greenbaum will direct the upcoming movie about talking dogs.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that Dan Perrault ('American Vandal') wrote the script, which follows an abandoned dog who teams up with other strays to get revenge on his former owner. The film will be an animation/CGI hybrid.
Ferrell is the abandoned dog while Foxx is one of the pooches who befriends him. Forte is the nasty human owner.
The film was shot in Autumn and is now entering post-production. The characters are being created with CGI effects.
Erik Feig’s Picturestart initially developed the project, then approached Greenbaum and Louis Leterrier as well as Phil Lord and Chris Miller. All are now involved as producers. Universal then picked up the film.
Ferrell is currently in 'The Shrink Next Door', which can be watched on Apple TV. He previously voiced characters in animated movies like 'Megamind' and 'The Lego Movie' series.
Foxx recently dabbling in voice acting in Pixar's Oscar-winning 'Soul' and 'Rio'. Forte voiced Shaggy in last year's 'Scoob' and has also lent his voice to 'The Lego Movie' series.
