Tim Burton said 'Beetlejuice', then Michael Keaton said it, and now Winona Ryder has said it. You all know what that means.
Ryder was on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night when Meyers turned talk to Beetlejuice and he asked if their was a sequel in the works and Ryder surprised everyone by coming out and actually confirming it. Now it's not the first time that the idea has come up on camera, with Burton himself saying it was something that was ticking away in the background in an interview for 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' way back in 2012 and again last year but Ryder's comments make it sound like it really IS happening.
Per EW: "Um, I think I can confirm it, because Tim Burton did this interview - like, it was very hush hush, top secret and then he was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah we’re doing it and Winona’s going to be in it,’ and I was like [shocked face]."
And before you get concerned, Keaton is 100% in, telling MTV last year: "I’ve emailed Tim a couple of times, talked to the writer a couple of times, but all really, really preliminary stuff. I always said that’s the one thing I’d like to do again, if I ever did anything again. But it kind of required Tim to be involved some way or another."
Now all we need is Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin and Catherine O'Hara and Jeff... Ah who are we kidding, we have the golden three, fire away Burton! Just don't ruin our childhoods.
And for good measure just to improve your day, here's the best scene from the original.
