We here at Entertainment.ie can't wait because with a new year comes a new bunch of movies we get to see. 2019 is going to be jammers-packed with superhero movies and sequels, and our list reflects that. There were quite a few left out, as we only selected ten, but below we tell you which films we're most excited for and why.

10. 'Captain Marvel' (8 March 2019)

Please let this be good please let this be good please let this be good.

9. 'Spider-Man: Far from Home' (July 2019)

We're not going to lie, the thing we're most looking forward to about this movie is Jake Gyllenhaal in the role of the villain, Mysterio. Tom Holland, Zendaya and Michael Keaton all reprise their roles int he follow-up to 'Spider-Man: Homecoming.'

8. 'Dumbo' (29 March, 2019)

Of all the Disney live-action remakes hitting cinemas next year (like 'Aladdin' and 'The Lion King'), 'Dumbo' is actually the one we're most looking forward to. Not only does it look like it expands the story - as 'The Jungle Book' did previously to great success - the trailer looks genuinely touching and magical.

7. 'Toy Story 4' (21 June, 2019)

We've waited eight years for 'Toy Story 4', but at least it's not as bad as the eleven year gap between 'Toy Story 2' and 'Toy Story 3'. The two teasers that have dropped so far reveal little. However, according to both Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, this is going to make us cry.

6. 'Joker' (4 October, 2019)

We thought that after the disaster that was 'Suicide Squad', we could never watch another iteration of the Joker again. However Todd Phillips' 'gritty' take. Moreover after Joaquin Phoenix's stunning turn in 'You Were Never Really Here', we can't wait to see his interpretation of the notorious villain.

5. 'Pokemon: Detective Pikachu' (10 May, 2019)

When the news of a 'Detective Pikachu' movie starring Ryan Reynolds first emerged, we hadn't a clue how it was supposed to work. However the trailer has completely turned us around and it looks like this could be one of the most original and funny movies of the year. We have very different sentiments about the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' movie...

4. 'Glass' (18 January, 2019)

Next year kicks off with the highly-anticipated sequel to M. Night Shyamalan's previous films 'Unbreakable' from 2000 and 'Split' from 2016. We just know this is going to be all kinds of crazy.

3. 'It: Chapter 2' (6 September, 2019)

'It' completely blew everyone out of the water in 2017. Added to the cast of its follow-up are Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy (who'll have a big year between this and 'Glass') and Bill Hader among others. Bill Skarsgard returns as the evil Pennywise the clown while the kids we fell in love with in the first film will also be back.

2. 'Avengers: Endgame' (26 April, 2019)

You're probably rolling your eyes at the number of superhero movies in our list (it is a big year for them with 'Dark Phoenix', 'Shazam!', 'Hellboy' and 'The New Mutants' also set for release). But after the epic, dramatic finale of 'Infinity War', fans are gagging to see what happens next.

1. 'John Wick 3: Parabellum' aka 'John Wick Chapter 3' (May 19, 2019)

With the first two 'John Wick' films being among the best action movies ever made, hopes couldn't be higher for the titular character's next journey. Given the innovation of the series so far, we can't wait to see what set pieces they've come up for it - and you just know that that scene with Keanu Reeves on a horse is going to be amazing.
