2018's 'Tomb Raider' is getting a sequel.

Alicia Vikander will return to the role of Lara Croft with none other than British director Ben Wheatley at the helm. Roar Uthaug directed the first 'Tomb Raider' (reboot, that is), which grossed $275 million worldwide, equaling Angelina Jolie's original film in 2001.

Ben Wheatley would be best-known for 'Free Fire' and 'High-Rise' as well as indie movies 'Kill List', 'Sightseers' and 'A Field in England'. He is currently in post-production on an adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's 'Rebecca', starring Lily James and Armie Hammer.

Vikander's career has been quiet of late. Since her outing in the video game adaptation, she has only had two shorts and a role in 'The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance' as credits. No doubt she's eager to get back into action - literally, if this franchise is anything to go by.

No other cast members have been disclosed nor have plot details emerged.

Production is expected to begin early next year and Amy Jump is lined up to write the script. Jump has worked on almost all of Ben Wheatley's feature films to date.

MGM will release 'Tomb Raider 2' on March 19, 2021.
