Tom Hanks was honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2020 Golden Globes last night and there wasn't a dry eye on Hanks himself let alone in the house after his acceptance speech.
Charlize Theron was the one to introduce and present Tom Hanks with the award, a slight curveball choice seeing as many would wonder if they've even worked together (he directed her in1996's 'That Thing You Do!'), who declared that Hanks "just makes the world a better place."
Hanks, battling through a cold and his own emotions, thanked his family at the top of his speech before moving onto his fellow actors.
"You’re a dope if you don’t steal from everybody you have ever worked with," Hanks said, citing Meryl (Streep), Denzel (Washington), Meg (Ryan) and Sally Field, amongst others.
Hanks' speech also paid tribute to the craft of acting and the demands of it, and gave a key lesson to anyone wanted to replicate his success: being on time.
"Showing up on time is one of the greatest liberating acts you can give yourself in a movie," he said.
Watch his full emotional speech below. It's very Tom Hanks, and by that we mean lovely and we could watch it all day.
