CinemaCon attendees at the Las Vegas show yesterday were treated to a snippet of footage from the upcoming blockbuster sequel.
And not only that, but the fourth 'Matrix' movie title was also revealed to those in attendance of the presentation. This December, we'll be eagerly awaiting the arrival of 'The Matrix: Resurrections' in our theatres this Christmas.
The official title announcement comes after months of speculation on what the fourth entry in the sci-fi series would be named.
According to some CinemaCon attendees who tweeted about the footage they previewed, the early access look at the fourth 'Matrix' movie went down a treat. It shouldn't be too long now until the first official trailer gets its release by Warner Bros.
According to Deadline, the footage opens with Keanu Reeves' Neo talking to a therapist played by newcomer to the franchise, Neil Patrick Harris. Set in a futuristic-looking San Francisco, it seems Neo is once again questioning his presence in the world around him. It's another indication that this fourth 'Matrix' movie will rely heavily on the first entry in the series.
'The Matrix: Resurrections' will see Keanu once again be joined by Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, as confirmed by leaked footage of the two actors filming stunts on set earlier this year.
Rounding out the returning cast will be Jada Pinkett-Smith, Daniel Bernhardt, and Lambert Wilson - Laurence Fishburne has confirmed he won't be returning as Morpheus. Christina Ricci, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra, and Jonathan Groff have also joined the cast this time. Lana Wachowski returns as producer, writer and director.
Expect to return to 'The Matrix' yet again later this year when 'The Matrix: Resurractions' hits cinemas on December 22.
