The second trailer for 'Dark Phoenix' has arrived, and its a bit spoiler-heavy. *Huge Spoilers Ahead*
Surprisingly, and rather annoyingly for some, we get confirmation of a certain character death in the second trailer for 'Dark Phoenix'.
Although it was alluded to in the first trailer, it was all just speculation. Now, the second trailer reveals that shapeshifting mutant Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) is killed my an overwhelmed Jean Grey (Sophie Turner).
Why did first time director Simon Kinberg put this in the trailer you ask? He had a chat with Entertainment Weekly, where he spilled the beans.
When asked why he included her death in the trailer, Kinberg said:
"Well, the thought process behind that was to primarily show that this is a movie that is unlike other X-Men movies. It’s a movie where shocking things happen, where intense, dramatic things happen. People don’t just fall off buildings and dust themselves off and walk away. There’s a reality to this movie and a consequence to this movie. Even more than that, it was to show that Jean/Dark Phoenix is genuinely a threat to everyone, including the X-Men."
'Dark Phoenix' arrives in cinemas June 7th.
