The late 1990's were a great time if you played in a grunge / punk band and had an interest in Shakespeare. Literally every other teen film featured one or the other. 10 Things I Hate About You had them both - Letters To Cleo (remember them?!) and a retelling of The Taming of the Shrew. Here's what happened to the cast.

JULIA STILES - 'Kat Stratford'

For Julia Stiles, 10 Things I Hate About You was her starting point. Playing the acerbic, wincing sister who's paired with Heath Ledger, she's done quite well since then. After scoring roles in the Bourne trilogy of films as Nicky Parsons, she went to star in films such as Mona Lisa Smile, The Omen and Silver Linings Playbook. She also had a recurring role in Dexter as Lumen Pierce, Dexter's love interest.

JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT - 'Cameron James'

Control yourselves. Although he was just finishing up with sitcom-classic Third Rock From The Sun, Levitt was eager to break into films. And did he ever. Starring in such modern classics as Brick and (500) Days of Summer, he event went one step further by working with blockbuster legend Christopher Nolan. Originally replacing James Franco in Inception, he then went on to star in The Dark Knight Rises as John Blake, Batman's faithful sidekick. Yeah, if you haven't seen the film by now, that'll go right over your head. Just this year, he starred, wrote and directed his very first film, Don Jon. We really liked it. ScarJo had a Newark accent and it was very funny.

HEATH LEDGER - 'Patrick Verona'

After the unprecedented success of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, Heath Ledger looked set to finally break through and become a global mega-star. His portrayal of The Joker effectively made the film and put comic-book films on the map as a viable, serious concern for the film industry. He died in 2008 from an overdose of sleeping pills.

LARISA OLEYIK - 'Bianca Stratford'

Out of all the cast, Larisa Oleyik had the most experience working in film and TV. Having starred in TV's The Secret World of Alex Mack and Boy Meets World, you have guessed that she would have moved onwards and upwards. However, it just wasn't to be. She later had recurring roles in Third Rock From The Sun and Malcolm In The Middle, but never graduated into films at the level that her costars did. Currently, she's starring in Pretty Little Liars as Maggie Cutler and has a small part as Ken Cosgrove's wife in Mad Men.

ANDREW KEEGAN - 'Joey Donner'

Unfortunately for Andrew Keegan, it would appear that 10 Things I Hate About You was as good as it got. Aside from a later film based on another Shakespeare play, Othello, 10 Things I Hate About You was the last internationally-released film he starred in. He's been in a number of straight-to-DVD films including one film that's set in Ireland but was filmed in Belgium. Yeah. Figure that one out. According to TMZ, he's being sued by a fancy nightclub for attacking a bouncer with a "motorized skateboard". Oy...

DAVID KRUMHOLTZ - 'Michael Eckman'

Although we personally never got into it, we hear David Krumholtz was brilliant in Numb3rs as Professor Epps. He's been pretty busy since he wooed that other indie-rock chick in 10 Things I Hate About You with a weird, medieval dress. Remember that bit? That was creepy. Anyways, he's had roles in ER, short lived-could have great The Playboy Club and HBO's The Newsroom, not to mention having a brief cameo in This Is The End.
