Rachel Zegler will have her breakout role in the upcoming 'West Side Story' movie directed by Steven Spielberg. Before that film has even hit theatres this December, the young actress and singer has already landed another major role in Snow White.

The original 'Snow White and the Seven Dwarves' was Disney's very first feature-length animation. It hit cinemas in 1938 to huge success.

The live-action remake will expand on the story and music from the original, reports Deadline.

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who were behind 'La La Land', 'The Greatest Showman' and 'Dear Evan Hansen', will pen new songs for the movie.

According to reports, director Marc Webb ('500 Days of Summer', 'The Amazing Spider-Man') and studio execs met talent over a number of months for the role of Snow White.

Zegler's adition impressed them all, and they were also blown away by seeing footage from 'West Side Story'.

That's not the only gig Rachel Zegler has lined up. She'll also be starring opposite Zachary Levi in superhero sequel 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods.'

Webb said of casting her as Snow White: "Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts.

"Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale."

Zegler also reflected on the good news on Twitter.

Other Disney live-action remakes in the pipeline include 'Pinocchio', 'The Little Mermaid', 'Peter Pan and Wendy', and 'Lilo and Stitch'.
