Whatever you might think of the long-awaited threequel to 'Ghostbusters', a good sign of what's to come is that the original cast are lining up to return.
In an interview with Parade Magazine, Sigourney Weaver confirmed that both she, Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd are all set to return. While the screen icon kept schtum about plot details, all she was willing to confirm was that she was returning for her original role as Dana.
The status of Zuul, the interdimensional demon that inhabited her in 'Ghostbusters', remains somewhat uncertain. Likewise, the status of the Keymaster, played by Rick Moranis, is also unknown. Weaver didn't say much about the casting in general, except to say that it's "going to be crazy working with the guys again!"
'Ghostbusters 3' has been under some scrutiny following its surprise announcement, some of it stemming from Paul Feig's all-female reboot with Melissa McCarthy and SNL alums Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. In fact, Jones took to Twitter shortly after the movie was announced to make her feelings plain on the topic.
Of course, the all-female reboot of 'Ghostbusters' wasn't much of a commercial success, and while it received decent reviews, a sequel was never put into production. The movie barely made back its production budget, with a global box office of $229 million against $144 million in production.
Here's hoping 'Ghostbusters 3' fares better when it arrives at cinemas in July 2020.
