Woodsboro is about to be attacked for a sixth time by someone out to get vengence on highschool teens.

Get ready for another instalment in the Ghostface franchise, as 'Scream 6' is officially in development at Paramount and Spyglass.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the creative team behind the latest entry in the series, 2022's 'Scream', will return for the sixth (and final?) slasher movie.

*SPOILERS FOR 'SCREAM 5' BELOW*

'Scream 5' saw Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette return for the legacy sequel, with the two leading ladies' characters Sidney and Gale managing to survive the film's climax in the original 'Scream' household. Only four of the new cast members also survived, who were played by Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding. No casting announcements on the next entry have been made yet, but we're guessing the new storyline will likely be continued.

Filmed on a budget of $24 million and managing to draw in $107.9 million globally so far, 2022's 'Scream' has been a success for the studios. With the return of the big players from previous entries in the slasher series (Campbell, Cox and Arquette, plus Skeet Ulrich and Marley Shelton), the latest release leaned heavily into this ideology of the characters being aware that they're living in a real-life horror film (i.e. don't go down to the basement alone).

Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct once again, based on the franchise created by the late Wes Craven. James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick will also return to pen the script and production is slated to begin this summer.

Executive producer Chad Villella previously told THR their plans, should 'Scream 6' be on the cards: "In order to make it special, you need to subvert things that have been established as the new rules and play outside of those parameters. Let’s break the rules now that we just re-created. And just go for it. I think you have to really go there."

2022's 'Scream' is still in cinemas.
