We don't know about you, but for us, 'The Witches' was one of the scariest (but best) films we remember seeing as young kids (not least the bit where they all take their wigs off at the hotel conference. Shudder.)
The book, written by Roald Dahl, of course, was also one of our favourites - but the 1990 adaptation, directed by Nicholas Roeg, proved a huge hit with Anjelica Huston giving a memorable performance as the Grand High Witch.
Now, the film is set to be remade with none other than 'Back to the Future' director Robert Zemeckis in the director's chair.
EW report that Zemeckis is in final negotiations with Warner Bros. to direct and co-write the script, while Guillermo Del Toro and Alfonso Cuaron will also act as producers on the project. Del Toro has been linked with the project as a potential director for years.
In recent years, Zemeckis has taken more of a producer's role on many projects, but in the past has directed the likes of 'Cast Away', 'The Polar Express', 'Forrest Gump', 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit' and more - so it'll be interesting to see what he brings to the table this time around.
Dahl, meanwhile, was reportedly not happy with the original adaptation of his 1973 novel, largely because the film's ending was different - but Zemeckis's adaptation is rumoured to be sticking more closely to the source material.
