The seventh 'Mission: Impossible' movie is currently held up due to the coronavirus.
In a weird twist of fate, a potential global threat is threatening a movie where super-agents battle global threats. Threats! Anyway, in a statement given to media, the producers of 'Mission: Impossible 7' confirmed that filming has halted in Venice, Italy over concerns about the outbreak of coronavirus.
"Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three-week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for 'Mission: Impossible 7'. During this hiatus, " the statement continues, "we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts. We will continue to monitor this situation, and work alongside health and government officials as it evolves."
THR reports that the Cruiser was not in Italy when the production was halted, however no restart date has been confirmed for the movie. The release date set for 'Mission: Impossible 7' is July 23rd, 2021.
'Mission: Impossible 7' isn't the only movie to be directly affected by the coronavirus either. Paramount also announced in the same statement that they're holding off on the release of 'Sonic' in China, saying that the movie won't be released until it's "appropriate to do so."
