Nearly 20 years later, there's a mini 'Love Actually' reunion special happening

Well, kind of

Now that winter has officially rolled around, we're gearing up for the perfect afternoon to watch one of our favourite Christmas films.

But this year, there's an extra special reason to be jumping for love, as some of the 'Love Actually' cast is reuniting for a festive special.

ABC journalist Diane Sawyer is hosting an interview special with the likes of Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, Bill Nighy, Laura Linney and director Richard Curtis.

Airing next week, the host will be chatting with each of the stars as they cast their minds back nearly 20 years ago when they filmed one of the most-watched Christmas movies every year.

Also joining the 'Love Island' special are the two youngest cast members, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Olivia Olson, who played childhood sweethearts Sam and Joanna.

'Love Actually' wasn't released until 2003, so releasing a 20-year-later special in 2022 does seem like Sawyer is getting a little bit ahead of herself. But hopefully, the whole cast will do a real reunion next year in honour of the iconic film reaching its two-decade birthday.

Back in 2017, the majority of the film's cast did reunite for a 'Red Nose Day Actually' in aid of comic relief. Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Martine McCutcheon, Liam Neeson and Colin Firth all returned to their characters 13 years after the events of the first film.
