Paul Thomas Anderson, the writer-director of such films as 'Boogie Nights', 'There Will Be Blood', 'Inherent Vice', 'Phantom Thread' and 'The Master', brings us his latest: 'Licorice Pizza'.

'Licorice Pizza' is a coming-of-age drama. It follows a teenage actor named Gary Valentine in the 1970s in the San Fernando Valley.

Gary befriends Jon Peters, the real-life Hollywood film producer whose credits included Barbra Streisand’s 'A Star Is Born'.

The cast is led by Cooper Hoffman, son of the late actor and frequent Anderson collaborator Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Alana Haim - yes, that is from the band Haim (for which Anderson has directed a number of music videos) - also stars, playing Alana Kane.

According to the official synopsis, the film follows the two characters "growing up, running around and falling in love", and "tracks the treacherous navigation of first love."

Bradley Cooper plays Jon Peter. It's an interesting casting choice, as Cooper helmed his own take on 'A Star is Born' in recent years.

Tom Waits plays a film director while Benny Safdie plays real-life politician Joel Wachs.

Also in the 'Licorice Pizza' cast are Sean Penn, Maya Rudolph, and Skyler Gisondo.

This is Paul Anderson's ninth feature film.

The Irish release date of 'Licorice Pizza' is TBC.
