Fred Willard has passed away at the age of 86.
Willard is best known for his roles in 'This Is Spinal Tap' and Christopher Guest's mockumentaries, such as 'A Mighty Wind', 'Best In Show', 'Waiting For Guffman' and 'For Your Consideration'. More recently, Willard had starred in the likes of 'Modern Family', 'Anchorman' and the upcoming Netflix series, 'Space Force'.
Willard was a prolific comedy performer, racking up well over 300 credits across TV and movies. News of his passing was shared via Twitter, first announced by Jamie Lee Curtis - wife of Christopher Guest. "How lucky that we all got to enjoy Fred Willard’s gifts," Curtis tweeted. "He is with his missed Mary now. Thanks for the deep belly laughs Mr. Willard."
Mary Willard was his wife of 40 years, who passed away in 2018. Willard's daughter, Hope Mulbarger, confirmed the news to Rolling Stone in a statement, saying that Willard "kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end."
