He played the role of Obi Wan Kenobi in three 'Star Wars' films, and now Ewan McGregor may be reprising it for a new Disney+ series.
The Scottish actor is reportedly in talks for the series, which will be centred around the Jedi knight character, and will be the third 'Star Wars' series for the new streaming platform, which launches this autumn.
The other two are 'The Mandalorian', based on warriors and bounty hunters from the 'Star Wars' universe like Boba Fett, and an as-yet-untitled series that will reportedly act as a prequel to 'Rogue One'. Lucasfilm are involved in both.
'The Mandalorian' will be ready for when Disney+ launches, although there's no timeline for the other two.
McGregor's next role is in 'The Shining' sequel 'Doctor Sleep' as a grown-up Danny Torrance and a villain in DC's 'Birds of Prey'. Two years ago, he had said in an interview that he would be open to returning to one of his best-known roles as Obi Wan Kenobi. "It would be fun to film that story now [that] I'm older... I’d be the right age," he said. "I’m forty-five, Alec Guinness was what, sixty? I could do two of them!"
