Did you bring your popcorn? If you thought that the behind-the-scenes drama had died down, then boys and girls you're in for a treat.
The 'Don't Worry Darling' world premiere happened in Venice yesterday afternoon, with director Olivia Wilde and her cast of Chris Pine, Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Gemma Chan, Sydney Chandler and Nick Kroll in tow.
Florence Pugh, due to her rigid 'Dune 2' schedule, flew in for the afternoon only, appearing for the film's red carpet, photoshoot and eventual screening later in the day. She skipped the press conference, which she left for Wilde, Pine, Chan and Styles to handle. And it seems like the conference went as well as expected.
To give you a clue as to how well the press conference went, here's various pictures and videos of Chris Pine looking away into the distance while Harry Styles describes the upcoming release as a "movie that feels like a movie".
The alleged "falling out" between Wilde and Pugh was asked by a journalist during the press conference, to which the director responded: "Florence is a force and we are so grateful that she is able to make it tonight despite being in production on 'Dune'. I know as a director how disruptive it is to lose an actor even for a day so I’m very grateful to her and Denis Villeneuve for helping us – we’re really thrilled we’ll get to celebrate her work tonight.
"I can’t say enough how honoured I am to have her as our lead. She’s amazing in the film and as for all the endless tabloid gossip and all the noise out there, I mean, the internet feeds itself. I don’t feel the need to contribute, I think it’s sufficiently well nourished."
Huh.
And then Florence jetted in just in time to save Chris. Of course, she showed up late, Aperol Spritz in hand - just like us when we're running late to work but still show up with a flat white.
When she showed up on the red carpet after changing outfits, Pine went full-on proud papa bear with a disposable camera and we are loving this pairing so much.
AND THEN came the premiere of the film. First up, the seating arrangement is clearly set up so that Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh are sitting the furthest away from each other without being too obvious - Pugh does play the main character in the film, after all.
Next, people think that Harry Styles SPAT on Chris Pine. He didn't (or did he?), but we're really unsure why Chris Pine shopped clapping so abruptly while harry took his seat... Check out the moment for yourself below.
Then, the man of the film festival Chris Pine put his sunglasses ON moments before the picture started. Is he about to take a nap?
Styles then kissed his co-star Kroll during the film's five-minute standing ovation, which got the crowd all geed us.
To give you some context for all of this alleged behind-the-scenes drama of 'Don't Worry Darling' in Venice, rumours have been swirling that Florence and director Olivia Wilde did not get along while filming. It apparently stemmed from Shia LaBeouf getting "fired" from the production, with the actor being replaced by Harry Styles, who then began dating Wilde.
Is cinema back? We think so.
'Don't Worry Darling' will be released in theatres on September 23 - but the full, behind-the-scenes story with the cast, however? We hope we get the details about that soon too.
