Yesterday, the government discussed a number of new public health measures with NPHET regarding outdoor events, and the reopening of gyms, restaurants, and pubs, among other facilities in Ireland.
The reopening of cinemas in Ireland was also on the agenda.
Cinemas are set to be allowed to reopen from June 7th, the same date on which gyms, pools and leisure centres are allowed to reopen. They will open with a 50 person max capacity, as is the cap for other indoor events.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin is expected to address the nation with these recommendations this afternoon (May 28th).
Other new measures include that indoor dining and drinking will be allowed from July 5th.
Outdoor events of 100 people, or up to 200 people in larger stadiums, also will be allowed from June 7th.
There was celebration of the good news on Twitter.
Cinemas will thus be open on time to show such blockbusters as 'Black Widow' in July and 'Fast & Furious 9' in late June.
Other movies that have been announced to open in cinemas in Ireland include Oscar-winning features 'Nomadland' and 'Another Round'.
Other much anticipated cinema showings will include musical 'In the Heights' and horror-thriller 'A Quiet Place Part II' this month.
Families can look forward to 'Peter Rabbit 2'.
