Chris O'Dowd has spoken to the BBC about his work and a possible sequel to the biggest movie at the Irish box-office in 2011, Bridesmaids.
"I've seen a lot of the guys since, but I honestly haven't heard anything about it," he told the BBC. "I personally think it might be best to leave it." Kristen Wiig seemed to agree, but focus then turned to recent Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy's character, who Universal would like to see showcased even more in a sequel - McCarthy has so far ruled out returning without the rest of the gang. Interestingly, while O'Dowd agrees that the film opened a lot of doors for him, he's not particularly happy with his options since; "The only little problem is that it led to an awful lot of offers just to do rom-coms, none of which were as good as Bridesmaids," he said. "So I was conscious of trying to veer away from that, the easy transition of taking a bigger part in a big rom-com."
O'Dowd has a crucial role in Judd Apatow's fourth film as director, This is Forty, and is currently working on his new series for US network, NBC and the Irish shot series Moone Boy for Sky One.
