If you read our four-star review of 'Bumblebee', you'll know the thing we loved so much about the movie was the fact that it was nothing at all like Michael Bay's franchise.
In fact, 'Bumblebee' was so different from what came before that you'd be forgiven for thinking of it as a reboot. While director Travis Knight didn't use the word 'reboot', he did tell us that he set 'Bumblebee' up as if it were a standalone movie.
"It doesn't presuppose anything that happens before or after. This is a complete story, and explores a very important of these character's life. In my brain, I can imagine where their adventures go from here, but I didn't intend to just... leave it open. It's self-contained," Knight explained.
He went on, adding that while he hadn't planned on a sequel for the movie, "if audiences love the material, we'd be fools not to listen - but I didn't look it at like that."
