'Black Widow' is among the many major movie titles that have had their release dates delayed. You can check out the full list of delayed movies here.
Fortunately, there's light at the end of the tunnel for the Black Widow solo outing. It looks like its release date in Ireland and the UK has moved up.
Originally, the Marvel venture was due to hit cinemas all over on May 1st.
The release date was then moved to November 6th due to the current crisis and cinema closures.
The November spot was originally meant for another Marvel movie, 'The Eternals', but this has now moved to 2021.
It now appears that while 'Black Widow' will hit cinemas in the US on that November date, it will arrive in Irish and UK cinemas a week earlier.
On this side of the pond, the Scarlett Johansson starrer hits cinemas on October 30th, with previews on the the 28th and 29th.
The new release date is in keeping with Marvel tradition, whereby Ireland and the UK get superhero movies earlier than the US. It has been a trend since 'Iron Man 2' in 2010, and even included last year's mega-hit 'Avengers: Endgame' (though it excluded 'Ant-Man and the Wasp').
Of course this is all assuming there are no other delays as a result of the current health crisis. But with cinemas in Ireland due to open from August 10th, it's looking very good for 'Black Widow'.
