Sci-fi comedy and cult classic 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' turns a whopping thirty years old today.
For the uninitiated, 'Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure' stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter as a couple of slackers who are assigned the task of making a history presentation at high school. Using a time machine, the duo travel through time and assemble various historical figures for the project.
Set during the 80s, the movie is full of references to the era. It is also absolutely bonkers and very funny.
Directed by Stephen Herek ('The Mighty Ducks'), the film's lean budget was $6.5 million. It was a huge box office success, making $40.5 million. It got a mostly positive critical reception at the time. In the years since, it gained even more acclaim for its cultural significance.
Fans of the movie know its sequel, 'Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey', and it's looking good that a third film will happen. Reeves and Winter will return as grown-up versions of their characters in 'Bill & Ted Face the Music'.
