'The Queen's Gambit' and 'The Witch' star said that her next blockbuster will require a lot of strength, but that she's looking forward to geting stuck into the role.
Anya Taylor-Joy is not taking her 'Furiosa' role lightly, admitting that she's already eagerly preparing for her lead role in the 'Mad Max' prequel film.
And to be fair, it's a pretty big role for the 25-year-old. The actress will be taking over from action hero Charlize Theron in a prequel film all about the character who eventually becomes the one-armed war captain known as Imperator Furiosa.
Speaking about her upcoming stand-alone spin-off film, which will be an origin story for the brutal yet undeniable fan-favourite character from the post-apocalyptic 2015 film from the mind of George Miller, Taylor-Joy told Entertainment Weekly that she "cannot wait" to begin filming.
She said: "George [Miller] is incredibly generous and so passionate. I love working with him already. He's just the best. I think my preparation is just about becoming strong enough to be able to carry this film. That's what it is.
"It's emotional strength, it's physical strength, it's mental strength. I cannot wait. I'm so excited."
She also gave a very brief and sweeping tease as to what fans can expect from the 'Mad Max' prequel, saying: "It wouldn't be 'Mad Max', if there were not vehicles of some sort."
Following the announcement of Anya Taylor-Joy in 'Furiosa', Charlize Theron admitted she found the re-casting of her character as "a little heartbreaking" and "a tough one to swallow". However, she did admit that George Miller is "a master" and wishes him "nothing but the best" with his next project.
'Furiosa' is scheduled to be released on May 24, 2024, nine years after 'Mad Max: Fury Road' hit cinemas. Chris Hemsworth from 'Thor' and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II from 'The Matrix Resurrections' will join Taylor-Joy for the prequel film.
You can next catch Anya Taylor-Joy in 'Last Night In Soho', which arrives in cinemas this Friday, October 29.
