Get ready for plenty more jump scares... in three years time.
John Krasinski has announced that his horror baby 'A Quiet Place' will be getting a 'Part III', set for release in 2025.
'The Office' and 'Jack Ryan' star made the announcement during a Paramount investor day on Tuesday of this week. Although Krasinski directed both films in the franchise thus far, it's not yet clear whether he will return for what will presumedly be the final chapter.
Monstrous sound-seeking aliens are the main antagonists in the 'Quiet Place' films, which is set during a time where humans hide out in the hopes of not attracting their attention - because if they do, it's bye-bye cruel world. Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt starred in the first instalment and its sequel, with Blunt being joined by Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou for 'Part II'. Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds play the two children.
'A Quiet Place Part III' is actually the second planned film in the expanding franchise. Jeff Nichols, the director of 'Midnight Special', was lined up to helm a new project that was initially thought to be 'Part III', first announced back in October of 2020.
However, this idea from Krasinski has since developed into a spin-off movie, with Michael Sarnoski now attached to direct. Sarnoski was in charge of Nicolas Cage's most recent, twisted efforts, 'Pig'. This film will be based in the same universe but will feature new characters. A release date of 2023 is currently pencilled in.
John Krasinski, most famous for taking on the role of Jim Halpert in 'The Office', has taken to directing since the first instalment of the horror franchise back in 2018. His next project will be a children's fantasy film, 'If', featuring a solid cast of Ryan Reynolds, Steve Carell, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Fiona Shaw.
During the Paramount investor day, the company announced their streaming service Paramount+ will further expand their TV shows and movies catalogue with more revivals and reboots. This will include a new 'Star Trek' film, a third 'Sonic' film as well as a Knuckles spin-off (poor Tails), and a slew of children's programming including 'SpongeBob SquarePants', 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' and 'Baby Shark'. Paramount+ will be added to Sky and NOW subscriptions later this year here in Ireland and the UK.
