Film adaptations of video games have a pretty poor success rate. The likes of Street Fighter, Max Payne and Hitman were movie adaptations that are still upsetting fans.
Which is why the words 'Donkey Kong Live Action Movie' will probably send shivers down the backs of most gamers. Which is a shame, because this short film made by Nintendo mega fan MyNameIsBanks is actually pretty good.
The 'plot' sees Donkey Kong kidnap Princess Toadstool and hold her hostage at the top of some precarious scaffolding. It's then up to Mario to overcome all the obstacles (of which their are many) in order to defeat Donkey Kong and rescue the Princess.
So what do you reckon? It is a bit hokey and Banks is clearly one for the self promotion but it can't be denied that the film was made from the heart. Also, it helps erase the other live action version of Mario from our minds.
