We're saying remake, but it's not precisely a remake.
Well, it's a reboot. Sort of. Sonic Mania is a new game headed to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 that openly embraces the power of the current-gen consoles and then funnels it into a 16-bit era. In other words, you have gloriously textures, sprites and designs with incredible animation and framerates - with a 16-bit twist.
Seriously, if you're a nostalgia hound, this is the game for you. Sonic Mania's been under development for some time now and with an expected release date scheduled for the first quarter of 2017.
Basically, the game looks, plays, sounds and feels like a 16-bit game from the '90s, but with all the power of current-gen consoles attached to it.
Take a look.
YES, THEY EVEN USED THE SAME MUSIC FOR GREEN HILL ZONE AND IT SOUNDS INCREDIBLE.
We also noted that the layout is pretty much the same as the original Green Hill Zone, save for a few tasteful additions here and there. This game genuinely can't be released quick enough.
If it does the Say-Gah! thing at the start, we might actually cry.
