Although we still know next to nothing about Hideo Kojima's first game post-Konami, it looks like it's going to be the most talked-about game of 2017.
Death Stranding first debuted a few months back with a creepy trailer featuring a naked Norman Reedus and a baby and the latest trailer, debuting last night at the Game Awards, also features creepiness and a baby. This time, however, instead of a naked Norman Reedus, we get a zombie-soldier Mads Mikkelsen.
Which is a change, to be honest.
Take a look.
So, thoughts? It's odd that we're not seeing anything even close to a gameplay trailer yet. That, of course, is nothing new with Kojima games. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain had very little in the way of gameplay trailers and relied heavily on the in-game cinematics to sell it.
In fact, Kojima's spoken publicly about his games have always moved more closer to interactive films than actual gaming experiences and Death Stranding looks like that's very much the case. In fact, it's going to be interesting to see how Kojima works without the creative restraints that he obviously had when he was in Konami.
Love it or hate it, it seems clear that Death Stranding is going to be unlike anything we've played before.
