Unlike other of ea sports yearly titles, there is a genuine reason to upgrade to the latest edition of the Tiger Woods series. For most golfing enthusiasts Augusta national is the ultimate golfing test and arguably the most spectacular course on the planet.
And now with Tiger 12, aptly named The Masters, we now have the opportunity to not only play the famous course but also take part in the Masters tournament itself. Why it's taken do long to make its console debut is up for debate, but it's arrival has reinvigorated a franchise that was in danger of become a bit stale and guilty of a lack of innovation. Sure with each year there's been the odd tweak, but these have been mostly forgettable or badly implemented, last years Ryder Cup a perfect example.
However this year, makers EA Sports have decided to build the game around The Masters; from the in-game menus to the cover itself, its never forgotten where the heart of this game lies. And thankfully, it's why this game works. Tiger Woods 12 feels like a different game to its predecessor. Graphics have been given an overhaul and are now as believable as ever, with Augusta National a showcase example. An on-screen Caddie has also been added, suggesting shot-types and clubs, but the more experienced player will ignore this feature more often than not.
Tiger Woods 12 is a worthy edition to the franchise with its greatest accomplishment being that it's actually worthy of an upgrade over last year's entry.
