Japanese video game developer Suda51 (yes, that's his actual name) has the perfect actor in mind should Hollywood want to adapt his beloved 'No More Heroes' series - Ryan Gosling.
In an interview with ShackNews, the Japanese auteur said he "would probably go for Ryan Gosling for the role of Travis Touchdown" and would like to hire 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' director James Gunn to helm the film.
For the uninitiated, the 'No More Heroes' series follows the escapades of Travis Touchdown, an anime-obsessed nerd who wins a sword in an online auction and proceeds to defeat the world's deadliest assassins.
The first game released for the Nintendo Wii back in 2008 in Europe, and has spawned a series of increasingly bizarre games.
Suda51 has worked with James Gunn before, with the pair collaborating on the 2012 game 'Lollipop Chainsaw', and considering Gunn is known for his over-the-top action scenes, Gunn would be a good fit for the craziness of the 'No More Heroes' universe.
Should the film require a Japanese developer, Suda51 opted for famed oddball director Takashi Miike, who has yet to make a film that wasn't aggressively weird.
Miike made a cameo as himself in the 2010 sequel 'No More Heroes 2', because video games are a lot weirder than films and directors from other mediums can just pop in at any time, like when likenesses of Guillermo Del Toro and Edgar Wright showed up in 'Death Stranding'.
The 'No More Heroes' series came to an end last year with 'No More Heroes 3' and the game will see a release for non-Nintendo consoles later this year.
Over in the Gosling camp, the star recently showed off the first image of him as Ken in Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' movie, with the 'La La Land' star starring alongside Margot Robbie in the titular role.
Video games based on films have become a hot commodity once again thanks to the likes of 'Uncharted' and the 'Sonic' movies, which could pave the way for cinema-goers to get a dose of Suda51 surrealness in their life with a 'No More Heroes' movie.
