Ah, where to begin? No More Heroes is, by a country mile, the weirdest title I've played in my long illustrious career on the game circuit. Full of pop culture references and a sharp contrasting image, at times you're not sure if you are playing a game, or participating in an Andy Warhol social experiment.
You play Travis Touchdown, an odd fellow who has won a 'Beam Katana' on an online auction, and who is now using his new toy to become the top assassin in Santa Destroy (his home town.) Right about now, you're probably getting what I mean by 'weird'!
Plot aside, the game's strongest points are its easy gameplay and fantastic '80s feel - i.e. everything from the clothes and music, to the clunky HUD graphics. The downside is the indirect way of playing: you have to earn money to gain the right to a ranked fight. Unfortunately, the mini-games are awful, which really takes the shine off what otherwise would have been a classic.
Fans of Killer7 will enjoy this kooky title, but it's probably not for the casual gamer.
