As we've opined before, 'Command & Conquer: Red Alert' was one of the finest PC games ever made and it's a crying shame that real-time strategy games have died off in popularity in recent years.
Of course, you have to remember that 'Command & Conquer', the first game in the series, is coming up on its 25th anniversary and it now looks like EA are planning to remaster the series for a new generation. In a Reddit post, Jim Vessella, a producer at EA Games, announced that the studio is planning the franchise's return to PC.
Vessella confirmed that EA is currently "exploring some exciting ideas regarding remastering the classic PC games, and already have the ball rolling on our first effort to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary," but stopped short of going into the finer details.
'Command & Conquer' was first released in September 1995 and quickly became a hit with players, eventually spawning 'Red Alert' which followed a year later. All told, there are some 17 games, add-ons and expansion packs for the series in total, but the question now is which of these will get the remastering treatment.
Here's a quick trip down memory lane.
